Including Your Pet in Your Wedding: Creative and Heartfelt Ideas
Your wedding day is all about celebrating with the ones you love most—but what if your closest companions aren’t people at all? For many couples, pets are family, and it’s only natural to want to include them in such a special day. But how do you make it work?
At NuView Photography, we’ve seen countless creative ways couples have incorporated their furry friends into their weddings, and we’re here to help you find the best option for you! Whether you’re bringing your pet to the ceremony or finding unique ways to honor them from afar, here are some fun and meaningful ideas to consider.
Bringing Your Pet to the Wedding
If you’re thinking about having your pet at your wedding, there are a few things to consider first. Does your venue allow animals? Will your pet be comfortable in a busy environment? Do you want them there for the full event, or just for photos?
If your pet isn’t the social type or might get overwhelmed, you can always have a trusted friend or pet handler bring them just for pictures and then take them home afterward. No matter what you decide, we’ll be ready to capture the perfect shot of you and your four-legged best friend!
Creative Ways to Include Your Pet in Your Wedding
If bringing your pet in person isn’t an option, there are plenty of other fun ways to include them in your wedding celebration!
- Personalized Decor – We’ve seen couples name their reception tables after different dog breeds or create custom cocktail napkins featuring their pets with the phrase, “Our parents got married!” You can also have life-size cutouts of your pet, perfect for photo booths or the dance floor.
- Stylish Accessories – Grooms have rocked custom socks and cufflinks with their pets’ faces, while brides have opted for paw-print jewelry or embroidered handkerchiefs. Even if your pet can’t be there physically, they can still be a part of your wedding day look!
- Signature Drinks & Cake Toppers – Instead of traditional “his and hers” drinks, why not name your signature cocktails after your pets? We’ve also seen adorable cake toppers featuring pets—sometimes with a little “bite” taken out of the cake for extra personality!
Including Your Pet in Your Engagement Photos
If your venue isn’t pet-friendly or the wedding day will be too hectic, consider bringing your pet to your engagement session instead! We love photographing couples with their pets, and engagement sessions are a more relaxed way to capture your bond. Just bring along a friend to help with your pet, and let us know in advance—we’ll be sure to have treats on hand!

Small but Meaningful Touches
Even if your pet can’t physically be there, you can still celebrate them in small ways. We’ve seen couples add special pet gifts to their registry or send guests home with treat bags for their own furry friends.
At the end of the day, there’s no one “right” way to include your pet in your wedding—but whatever you decide, we’ll be there to capture every heartfelt moment!
