Timing Is Everything

It’s January, 2020. You’re just months away from your dream wedding, lovingly planning final details, when the whispers of global pandemic begin to surface. You push them aside, knowing that you have meticulously planned your big day, down to the second. Everything is going to be perfect, because your timing has been perfect.

And then the world shuts down, weddings are postponed, and all the hard work slips away. Timing? Ruined.

Or is it?

Flash forward a year, and things are, hesitantly, opening up again. Weddings are back (and better than ever! We all deserve a celebration, right?) But you already had a perfect plan… Now what? We, the NuView team, want to make sure your day runs as smoothly as possible. We’ve put together some tips and tricks for optimal timing, so that all you have to worry about now is marrying your best friend.

Before the Wedding

In the time prior to your actual wedding, you will be planning like a maniac. In effort to stay calm and stay on top of everything, we suggest hiring a wedding planner, if your budget allows for one. The pros of a planner are that you get to tell them what you want and then step back. They handle everything else.

Planners may not make financial sense for every couple, so in this case, technology is your friend. Give yourself deadlines, like “I have to pick a venue by this day,” and then stick to it. Add it to your online calendars, set reminders and alarms and maybe even countdowns on your phones. You can do this with a good old fashioned agenda as well, but programming dates into your phone assures that you will be notified when the day comes, so you will not forget.

Another way to stay on top is to utilize the internet. Look for online checklists (may we suggest the beautiful templates from The Spruce, linked here?) In need of ideas? Websites like Pinterest and apps like TikTok offer some amazing bridal shower and bachelor/bachelorette ideas.

Many brides are planning far in advance to ensure they have everything they want for their perfect day. You have to decide on photographers, vendors, food, dress, everything! And, it’s always good to make sure your vendors know and are in contact with each other. NuView is offered in several wedding bundles at a variety of beautiful venues. Planners are extremely helpful in ensuring that your vendors know each other, and getting this done sooner rather than later is the way to go. Before you can begin planning in earnest, you need to set your date. With the state of the world at the moment, planning for a year from now, or even six months from now, is daunting. Who knows where we’ll be? No matter what, your perfect day should be just that– perfect! We believe that you deserve to be stress-free in the time before the wedding. One way to do so? Day of the Wedding

The absolute most important thing to know is that something will inevitably go wrong on the day of your wedding. Take a breath and try not to stress; we’ve got you covered.

To stay on time, we suggest setting alarms. Ideally, someone in the bridal party will do this for you. Do not be afraid to rely on your friends and family, particularly those in the wedding. They are there for you because they love you. If you tell them it’s their job to keep things running smoothly, they will keep things running smoothly.

Of course, things happen and time flies away from us. This can be especially evident when taking pictures. We want to capture every moment of your special day, and sometimes that runs a little long. There are so many moving parts, but we at NuView are always on top of time. We coordinate and adapt for you! We’ll keep an eye on time and stay in contact with your other vendors so you don’t have to worry about it. Don’t worry about capturing the special moments; that’s our job as photographers. The big day goes by so fast, filled with endless magical seconds. We always look for opportunities for different perspectives. We will get on the ground or climb above you, stand in the scorching heat or trek through the snow. You can rely on us. We track the sun to know where the light and flare will be, to provide you with the most beautiful pictures.

Another suggestion is having supplies on you at all times. The groom has something in his teeth? Not to worry, because you have floss. Bridesmaid tears her dress? Safety pin. Stray hair? Bobby pin. Even strange objects (superglue, for instance) have a purpose in your emergency bag. It’s better to be over prepared than to miss the one thing that you could really use.

As far as timing goes, make sure you block off time for you and the bridesmaid and groomsmen to eat and drink. You’ll be running around a lot to get ready and get pictures taken, but you’ve got to make sure your basic needs are met.

Another big stresser to accept? Something, or someone, will be late. There is nothing you can do about it, except for trusting others to straighten it out. Ultimately, this day is about you. As long as the bride and groom, bride and bride, or groom and groom, make it down the aisle in one piece, nothing else matters.

All we can do is hope the groom doesn’t shave his head minutes before doing so.

After the Wedding

One thing we’ve all learned from COVID is that perfect timing does not exist. But you did it. You fought for a perfect day to celebrate your perfect love in the midst of an anything-but-perfect situation. And now? You’ve got nothing but time.

After all, if you can survive a pandemic together, you can survive anything together. And we here at NuView are ready to make that happen
